FARMINGTON – New Vineyard resident Lord Clinton Casey is the featured artist for August at Heirlooms of Tomorrow. An open house will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6.
Casey’s focus in art is on the “representational” and “plein air,” or the painting of outdoor light. For 20 years he has been studying from nature and working plein air. Casey said what he tries to achieve in painting is to be able to interpret nature as he sees it onto the canvas.
“I am trying to create an emotional response to the subject. My technique and method in accomplishing this comes from my study of light and atmospheric effects, which I believe help to stimulate an emotional response.”
Casey said he would like his work to influence collectors and artists alike to share his vision of what American plein air painters should be about and that is conservation. “They should demonstrate to collectors and artists that the beauty of nature is fragile and that we have the responsibility to protect America’s greatest treasures,” he said.
Casey is the owner of Lily Pond Garden and Gallery in New Vineyard, where he teaches. He is co-owner of Art Etc Gallery in Haverhill, Mass., where he also teaches. He also teaches drawing and sculpting at the Essex Art Center in Lawrence, Mass.
Heirlooms of Tomorrow is located at 710 Wilton Road.
