After reading the letter to the editor sermon by the Rev. Douglas Taylor (July 28), I think he may have missed an important aspect about the Harry Potter books: They are fiction.

I have read all the books without any urge to cast them into the fire. I have had no urges to practice pagan rituals. I’m not looking for any magic wand shops, and I don’t expect to see any unicorns or witches flying around on brooms.

Are there pagan cults and people who believe in witchcraft? Yes, I imagine so. Is Harry Potter their prophet? I suspect not.

As a Christian, if I should run into a pagan, I would try and follow Christ’s teachings – I would practice love and tolerance.
