I am writing in response to the letter from the Rev. Doug Taylor (July 28). I simply cannot tolerate his attitude any longer.

I was raised Unitarian, a good Christian child. I am now a member of the First Unitarian-Universalist Church in Auburn. Members seek to follow in Jesus’ path by each following the individual’s spiritual path. The church accepts all ideologies. Members study them, and learn what we can.

It was in that open and accepting congregation that I first learned about paganism. Paganism is not a black art, nor is it witchcraft, as the Rev. Taylor would have others believe. Paganism preceded Christianity by several thousand years. It is a simple religion, celebrating the Earth, the seasons and the harvest.

Our society is experiencing a clash with followers of a jihadist Islam. Until society can stop terrorists from their course, attacks will continue in America and around the world.
