OES meeting

WALES – Lakeside Chapter 60, OES, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Wales Masonic Hall on Centre Road.

The worthy matron and worthy patron will honor past matrons and past patrons. All members and visiting members are welcome. There will be light refreshments after the meeting.

Angel to appear

SABATTUS – Country singer Sammie Angel will make a repeat appearance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Sabattus American Legion Post 135 on Island Road. Tickets, $6 a person, will be sold at the door.

Music festival

SABATTUS – A Fall Festival of Music will benefit Loaves and Fishes and the local food pantry on Sept. 10. The 7 p.m. event will feature local artists, such as Lorraine Ouellette, members of the Downeast Country Music Association and the Sacarrappa Boys, a bluegrass group from Westbrook.

Advance tickets are available for $8 by calling Sister Lucille at 375-8399 or at the door for $10. The festival will take place at the Central Maine Community College in Auburn. Nonperishable food or nonfood items will be accepted at the door.

There will be a garage sale to benefit Loaves and Fishes and the food pantry from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12 and 13, at the Dominican Sisters Convent at 61 Lisbon Rd.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 2 at the Multi-Purpose Center. North/South winners in Flight A were: first, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Fred Letourneau and Jeanine Kivus; third, Leslie Lord and Nancy Lindgren. Tied for first place in Flight B were Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau with Bill and Barbara Whitman.

East/West winners in Flight A were: first, Mike Quinn and Luke Merry; second, Pat Quinn and Mary Leahey; third, Jim Flanagan and Richard Allen. Flight B winners were Jim Flanagan and Richard Allen.

Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Multi-Purpose Center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on Aug. 3 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Larry Fortier and Lee DeOrsey; second, Mary Leahey and Nancy Lindgren; third, Misha Tomic and Leslie Buzzell; fourth, Ron and Connie Reynolds; fifth, Roger Briggs and Claire Lyons. Flight B winners were: first, Larry Fortier and Lee DeOrsey; second, Roger Briggs and Claire Lyons.
