DANVERS, Mass. – Norman Frederick Brown, 85, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Wakefield, Mass., and Farmington, Maine, husband of the late Helen (Fredrick) Brown and Ethlyn June (Jorgensen) Brown, died Saturday, March 12, at the Hunt Nursing and Retirement Home in Danvers, Mass.
Born and raised in Malden, Mass., son of the late Frederick F. and Freda (Leisk) Brown, he received his education in the Malden school system.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. He was awarded several medals and awards, including the M.E.T. Campaign Ribbon, and the European and African citation.
He had been employed for many years as an X-ray and fluoroscope technician in Massachusetts for the medical division of the General Electric Co., until the time of his retirement. Prior to that, he had a successful career with the Sanborn Co. and Tracerlab Co. in Waltham, working with medical test and nuclear equipment.
A longtime resident of the town of Wakefield, Mass., prior to moving to Cape Coral, Fla., he was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cape Coral, Fla.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Norman Jr., and Ann Brown of Danvers, Mass.; two grandchildren, Eric and his wife, Kristen Brown, of Wilmington, Mass., and Melissa and her husband, Christopher Forest, of Danvers, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Elysia; one sister, Dorothy Hogan of Clearwater, Fla.; and one nephew, retired Capt. James Hogan of Lincoln, Mass.
