BATH – The Chocolate Church Arts Center will present the film “Boogie Board Beach” at 7:30 p.m. today.

A feature-length musical comedy film for the whole family produced by Titans of Film, “Boogie Board Beach” is the story of a bunch of beach bums on the coast of Maine, led by comedian and writer Quinn Collins and his surf-champion character, Buzz Cole. Like the “Beach Party” type films of the ’60s, the characters have silly nicknames, such as Bongos, Wahini, Grease Monkey and Sniffles.

Filmed entirely in Maine, it is a hilarious and affectionate satire of the surf movie genre. The cast is made up of 10 popular Maine comedians, including George Hamm and Steve Caouette.

“It’s a very silly film, and there aren’t a lot of films like this out there,” said Collins. “There aren’t a lot of independent musicals.”

Tickets for “Boogie Board Beach” are $7 for general admission and $5 for members of the arts center and children. They can be purchased by calling the arts center at 442-8455.
