PORTLAND – The University of Maine School of Law’s Center for Law & Innovation is offering a roundtable discussion on U.S. patent-reform legislation. It will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 7, in the Abromson Center on the USM campus in Portland.

Speakers include James Bessen, an economist and innovation researcher, and Robert Stier a patent litigation attorney and patent law professor.

Congress recently proposed a major overhaul of the patent system that would be the most dramatic reform of the patent system in decades, according to a spokesman for the center. Some are concerned the revisions would impede innovation. Others believe the revisions don’t go far enough.

Admission is free, but seating is limited. People can e-mail [email protected] to register.
