FARMINGTON – Rochie F. Smith, 90, a resident of Lavoie Street, Jay, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he was a patient for three weeks.
He was born in Detroit, on July 27, 1915, the son of Rochie L. and M. Ina Shaw Smith. He was a graduate of MCI in Pittsfield and attended the University of Maine.
On March 28, 1938, he married Joyce Hall in Palmyra. He worked for A & P Grocery and was town manager for Exeter, Garland, Dexter and Livermore Falls.
He also worked for Coffin & Richardson Engineering Co., of Boston, Mass., when he retired. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, IOOF in Dexter, and enjoyed fishing and his wife’s cooking.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years of Jay; a son, Blaine Smith of Strong; a daughter, Linda Nash and her husband, Wesley, of Millinocket; and two granddaughters, Diane MacGilvray of Florida and Laurie Nash of Ohio.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Lorraine Smith; and a brother, Robert Smith.
