FARMINGTON – Three Rangeley teenagers pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges in connection with theft of drugs from Riddle’s Pharmacy in Rangeley, a state prosecutor said Thursday.

The three girls, one age 15 and two age 16, were employees of the pharmacy. Two of them were employed until late May and the other until December. They were accused in May of stealing narcotics from the Main Street drugstore.

According to police, the girls admitted to using the drugs, selling them and giving them away.

Store owner and pharmacist Joey McLafferty had his pharmacy license temporarily suspended in June and was accused of several state and federal pharmacy rule violations. McLafferty has since fixed security violations, including locking up drugs when he isn’t present and installing a security alarm on the secured drugs. He has also agreed to comply with state sanctions to get his license returned.

Two of the girls pleaded guilty Wednesday in juvenile court in Farmington to stealing drugs, Assistant District Attorney Andrew Robinson said Thursday.

They both were sentenced to a state youth center until they were 18, with all of the time suspended, and one year of probation, Robinson said.

The other girl, age 16, pleaded guilty to furnishing drugs, he said, and was sentenced to serve in the youth center until her 19th birthday, with all of the time suspended. She also received one year of probation, he said.
