LEWISTON – Jeannette Marie Lessard of Huard Avenue, Auburn, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, with family by her side, early Thursday morning, Aug. 11.

She was born in Monmouth, Nov. 7, 1922, the daughter of Louis and Marie (Belanger) Labbe.

She was educated in Lewiston schools and later became the proprietor of Lessard’s Market for the next 17 years, a family business she was very proud of.

She enjoyed puzzles, sewing, crocheting, reading the paper, softball games, and sitting in her favorite chair gazing out the kitchen window. The most memorable times were the family barbecues she attended.

She was a member of Holy Family Church.

She is survived by three sons, Lionel Champagne and his wife, Pauline, of Greene, Richard and his wife, Joni, of Brunswick, and Ronald and his wife, Marcella, of Lisbon; two daughters, Debra Norton, and Linda Marcotte and her husband, Jeffrey, all of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, Chris and Bob Moore, Cindy and Rod Lessard, Doreen Birkbeck and Sue Codeiro, Staff Sgt. Michael Norton and his companion, Katie Whelan, Ashley Lessard, and Brandon, and Cameron Marcotte; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Roland Champagne; and second husband, Wilfred Lessard; a son, Robert Champagne; four brothers, Robert, Romeo, Roland, and Herman Labbe; two sisters, Dorothy Labbe, and Rita Remilard; and a son-in-law, Kevin Norton.
