LITCHFIELD – Aurelie Bush, former assistant principal in Lisbon, has been hired to head Litchfield’s elementary and middle schools, Superintendent Paul Malinski announced.

The School Committee appointed her Wednesday. She started her new job at Libby-Tozier and Carrie Ricker Middle schools Thursday.

The schools lost their longtime principal when she resigned in June to become principal of Tripp Middle School in Turner. The assistant principal had planned to take over for her temporarily, but she resigned in July to move north.

The Principal Search Panel figured its search would take a while and the school system planned to be without a principal until October, Malinski said. But after receiving 13 applications and conducting four interviews, the panel quickly narrowed its search to a single finalist: Bush. Panel members liked her warmth and her communication and organizational skills. She could start immediately, he said.

The school system will allow Bush to help search for an assistant principal next spring, the superintendent said. Middle school teacher Curtis Jack will serve as interim assistant principal through the school year.
