By now, just about everyone in the town of Lisbon has discovered where the new water department office is located. For anyone who hasn’t, it is on busy Route 196 in Lisbon Falls at a dangerous and hard-to-get-to location with limited parking. Trying to get there to pay water bills or conduct business there is an accident waiting to happen. I believe the decision to locate the water department’s office there is evidence of poor management by Lisbon officials.

Now, as I understand it, town officials want to increase water bills by 50 percent to cover the costs of that new office. Another example of mismanagement in this community.

There is a petition circulating at the town office to rescind the water district’s new office. Lisbon voters should take the time to go to the town office and place their signatures as an indication of protest. It’s time for a change for the betterment of Lisbon.

The voters of Lisbon have to make better choices as to whom they elect to represent them. The town needs people who possess strong education and business backgrounds, along with solid personal finances. How could anyone make rational financial decisions for Lisbon without those credentials?

Voters should know the people they are electing into office.
