RUMFORD – Giuliana M. Favre, 80, of Waldo Street, died Tuesday Aug. 16, at Rumford Hospital following a brief illness.


She was born on May 1, 1925, in Livorno, Italy, a daughter of Francesco and Dilva (Salvini) Leonardini.


She met her husband, Roger Favre, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They were married in Italy on Oct. 27, 1946, and came to this country in 1947.


She received her high school diploma from Stephens High School in Rumford, in 1980 at the age of 55.


She was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Le Parasseux Snow Shoe Club.


She enjoyed square dancing and gardening, but most of all, she loved animals – especially her cats.


She had many friends and she enjoyed the time they spent together in the afternoons at McDonalds. She also enjoyed her camp at Roxbury Pond.


She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Roger M. Favre; a special niece, Elsa Crozet and husband, John Pierre Crozet, of Mystic, Conn.; close friends, Marisa DeFaz of Rome, Italy, Maria Hoxie of Cortland, N.Y., and Sheila Bent of Rumford; a sister, Elsa Crivelloto of Livorno, Italy; and many nieces and nephews.


She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Leonetto, Gastone and Piero; and two sisters, Bruna Cancellieri and Enza Passini.
