PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will host Barbara Swan Frost as speaker for the general meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, in the High Street Museum. The meeting is open to the public free as are the visiting hours for tours or genealogy help from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Paris Cape has been able to pay off the mortgage on the new museum through the sale of the old Route 26 museum building. New members are needed and welcome.

There will be a short business meeting led by President Glenn Davis and Secretary-Treasurer Cynthia Immonen before the program.

Frost will speak about the history of the Good Cheer Society women’s group of the South Paris Universalist Church, which had its beginnings in the late 1890s and continues today.

Many family names from the Paris-Norway communities will be included in the program. Refreshments will follow.
