LEWISTON – The Jesus Party Pentecostal Kids Church, a nonprofit faith-based urban outreach, is accepting preregistration for the upcoming school year.

Children must be 5 or older to attend. Transportation is provided and registration forms may be obtained by calling the ministries director, Sonia Taylor, at 786-5568.

The urban outreach has been ministering to the spiritual needs of inner city children for the last 10 years.

In addition to the traditional Friday night children’s chapel, the ministry is looking to expand services to meet the needs of children in the areas of physical and emotional wellness.

Special meetings are planned from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays from Sept. 3 to Oct. 22 at the Jesus Party headquarters, 291 Bates St.

Mrs. Taylor is seeking financial sponsorship from local businesses and community members in order to purchase an eight-volume video curriculum that introduces young viewers to the importance of making good choices as well as practical advice on how to develop healthy habits and set personal health goals. The video curriculum costs $239.60.

The videos include dealing with feelings, decisions and conflicts, drugs and diseases, environmental health, nutrition, safety awareness, personal health and hygiene and staying safe around strangers.

Youth will explore what happens when calling 911, how to resolve a dispute with a friend and the positive power of journaling. They will also be taught everything from the food groups and personal hygiene to self-esteem and surfing the Internet safely.

Anyone interested in making a donation for the video curriculum series can contact the ministry and view the video curriculum and teachers’ guide at www.libraryvideo.com.
