This concerns those people who complain about the rising cost of gas and heating oil. I wonder if they have a clue as to some of the reasons why the prices have sky-rocketed. One of the most compelling reasons is the significant increase in the usage of fuel by China. China is increasing its productivity daily, which in turn escalates their need for the natural resources. The simple law of supply and demand is evident when one considers the enormous increases in China’s usage. They are consuming any and all resources they can obtain.

Let’s sit back and rationalize why this is happening. While shopping Harry and Moe find many “good bargains” that were made in China. Loading their carts, they exit the store having saved 20 percent over what they would have paid had they bought American-made articles.

On their way home, they have to stop for gas. They complain about the 30 percent rise in the price of the fuel; spending a great deal of time blaming the oil companies, the government and any and any one else they can think of. Not once did the thought that they may be the biggest reason why – that they are their own worse enemy. For the most part, consumers have failed to realize that when buying foreign goods, they are enhancing the economic well-being of the exporting countries. At the same time, Americans are creating a vicious circle of spiraling increases in resource costs.
