PORTLAND (AP) – Bronson Sardinha drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 12th inning as the Trenton Thunder defeated the Portland Sea Dogs for the third straight night 4-3 Wednesday.
With the game tied at three, Ramiro Pena opened Trenton’s 12th by walking, then moved up on a passed ball and a groundout before scampering home on Sardinha’s fly to left.
Scott Youngbauer knocked two hits and scored twice as the Sea Dogs (71-60) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first and added a run in the eighth.
After Michael Coleman belted a homer in the seventh, Trenton (66-64) tied it in the ninth, scoring two runs on two walks, a passed ball, Shelley Duncan’s RBI single and a fielder’s choice.
Michael Brunet (1-1), Trenton’s fifth pitcher of the evening, picked up the win. Charlie Zink (8-5) took the loss.
