STRONG – A 21-year-old Freeman Township man was charged Wednesday in connection with spray-painting the Strong Elementary School with gang-like markings, graffiti and a threat of a shooting last week.

Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Michelle St. Clair declined Wednesday to identify the suspect, who was issued a summons for criminal mischief, because it would jeopardize efforts to locate another suspect in the case.

Deputies released the information, St. Clair said, to ease people’s fears and to let people know deputies are working on the case every day.

Vandals used five different colors of spray paint and wrote on two sections of fascia boards beneath the roof line of the school.

Police said one comment written on the building was “shooting is coming – believe.”

More evidence has been collected and is being brought to the state crime laboratory for further inspection, she said.

“The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the public for all the information they provided,” St. Clair said.
