HARRISON – Veteran bluesman Roy Book Binder, whose music was inspired by the Delta, Piedmont and Texas Blues artists from the early 19th century, will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Deertrees Theatre. He will also conduct a blues guitar workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.

Binder spent the early ’60s learning his craft from Blind Lemon Jefferson and the legendary Rev. Gary Davis. After several years on the Greenwich Village folk scene, Binder struck out on his own. His repertoire features traditional blues as well as his own compositions. Since the late ’60s, he has been on the road nonstop in his Airstream mobile home, spreading his brand of “hillbilly country blues” combined with insight and humor.

Tickets, $20, are available at the Cool Moose in Bridgton, The Country Sleigh in Naples, Fare Share Co-Op in Norway, Books & Things in Bethel and Deertrees Theatre. For reservations, enrollment in the workshop or more information, call the Deertrees box office at 583-6747.
