MECHANIC FALLS – Gordon W. Sedgeley, 79, of Mechanic Falls, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 28, at his home, with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Oxford, June 3, 1926, the son of the late Jason B. and Winzola (Bonney) Sedgeley.

He graduated from Oxford High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been a member of the Masons since 1948, and was a member of Oxford Lodge AF & AM of Norway.

On March 31, 1951, he married Lorena Hebert.

He was always a hard worker and liked working with his hands. For a period of time, he lived in Connecticut and worked at Pratt & Whitney. In 1963, he built the Muskegon Camping Area in Oxford, which he fondly owned and operated with his wife until 1987. There were great memories shared there with many friends and family.

He was a favorite “Papa,” and enjoyed spending special time with his family, especially his 3-year-old great-granddaughter, Haley. They particularly enjoyed sharing Cheez-its.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and cutting wood. After retirement, he enjoyed making wooden toys, especially for his great-granddaughter, Haley.

He leaves his wife of Mechanic Falls; his daughter, Christine Fournier and her husband, John, of Lewiston; his grandsons, Royce Breton and wife, Amanda, of Eliot, and Ryan Breton of Poland; one great-granddaughter, Haley Breton; a sister, Glenna Murphy of Oxford.

He was predeceased by a sister, Geraldine Delano; and his stepfather, Rudolph Walker. He will be sadly missed by his loving family.
