LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education is announcing its fall class schedule. Registration will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6, and classes will start Monday, Sept. 12.

Computer courses available include the following evening classes: Word XP starting Monday, Sept. 26; Access XP, Thursday, Sept. 22; and Power Point XP, Tuesday, Oct. 4. Quick Books Pro 2005 will meet on Wednesdays starting Oct. 19. A Computer for Complete Beginners course will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. starting Oct. 4. A Keyboarding I class will meet from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. starting Oct. 20.

A series of electrician training courses will be offered starting this year. The first will be “Electricity I-DC Circuits.” The class will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. for 15 weeks starting Tuesday, Oct. 4. A certificate accepted by Maine Electrical Licensing Board will be issued upon successful completion.

The second course in the series will be offered in the spring semester and the final course will be offered next summer.

A new accounting skills certificate is available. The certificate is designed for adults who work or would like to work in the financial services industry and who would like to gain accounting skills. The certificate requires 100 hours of study. Accounting I will be offered starting Monday, Oct. 17, and will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. The course has been accepted for college credit through an articulation agreement with Central Maine Community College.

A substitute teaching course will start Tuesday, Sept. 27. The class will run for five weeks and meets from 2:45 to 5 p.m. Tours of district schools and knowledge and skills needed by substitute teachers are included.

An Emergency Medical Services First Responder Training Program will be offered. If interested, call 353-3037 for more information.

In association with Transcription Associates Inc. of Brunswick, the following courses are available on a correspondence basis: “Medical Transcription,” “Medical Billing/Coding” and “Pharmacy Technician.” Call for details. Certificate programs are available in “Computer Technology” and “Word Processing.”

Academic courses are offered for adults wishing to complete a high school diploma, earn a General Educational Development certificate or prepare for college. Algebra I will be offered starting Tuesday, Sept. 13, for 18 weeks. The class has been accepted for college credit through an articulation agreement with Central Maine Community College.

Geometry will meet on Monday beginning Sept. 12 for 15 weeks. Chemistry with lab will begin Thursday, Sept. 15. All the classes meet college pre-requisite requirements and meet from 6 to 9 p.m.

A contemporary fiction class will start Tuesday, Sept. 13. A math refresher class will be offered for adults who need to brush up on math skills for college placement tests and before taking algebra. The class will meet for eight weeks starting Tuesday, Sept. 20.

GED testing is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. The GED prep class meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Adult Basic Education tutoring is available for residents of Lisbon and Durham who need help in basic skills such as reading, basic math, and writing. The Plato Learning Lab is available for Lisbon and Durham adults who would like to brush up on skills to prepare for college or work training programs. Call 353-3037 for more information.

Many enrichment courses will be offered, including Pilates, which will meet on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. starting Sept. 26. Continuing and beginning yoga classes will start on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

An American Red Cross certified baby-sitting class will start Thursday, Oct. 6, and an adult infant and child first aid/CPR class will start on Wednesday, Oct. 5. A canine CPR/first aid class will be offered Wednesday, Oct. 26.

A fall gardening workshop will be held on Monday, Sept. 20. A disappearing nine-patch quilt class will be offered starting Tuesday, Sept. 27, for six weeks. Sample quilts are on display in the Adult Education office.

A beginning American Sign Language class will meet for seven weeks starting Monday, Oct. 3. Hospice training will run for seven weeks beginning Wednesday, Oct. 5. A writing fiction class will meet for eight weeks starting Oct. 4.

Other offerings include family craft workshops for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, scrapbooking for children, cooking classes and parenting classes. Hunter safety will be offered starting Tuesday, Sept. 13. A Maine driving dynamics class will start on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
