WILTON – Evergreen Behavioral Services will provide a four-day therapeutic after-school program designed for youth with special needs who have difficulty in school settings. Children with special needs including ADHD, ADD, ODD and depression.

The after-school program, for children ages 8 to 15, will run from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Renaissance School. The program will start Tuesday, Sept. 6.

The program will provide a structured environment to help foster children’s communication and problem-solving skills, all under the supervision of qualified mental health professionals.

The mental health team operates under the direction of child psychiatrist Dr. Lourdes Soto-Moreno and includes therapists and behavior technicians who are experienced in working with children with special needs. The program will include intensive treatment in the development of social skills, anger management skills, behavior modification and confidence building.

“The after-school program helps children reach a higher level of self-esteem,” said Sharon Neil, LCSW, special programs manager. “This helps them develop and use the skills to work through conflict and struggles unique to them.”

Youth are accepted based upon need and mix of children. Self-pay, MaineCare and private insurances are accepted with precertification by insurance carrier required. For more information or to receive an application, contact Neil at 778-0035.
