Several years ago, the Rev. Douglas Taylor of the Jesus Party asked me to be the patriotic mentor for the Jesus Party. I accepted the challenge – that all children need to know firsthand – especially in our present time, when the world around us is in constant turmoil and events that happen daily are transmitted immediately to the whole world and even children are up to date of all these events that take place.

My thoughts in accepting this challenge was to make sure the children who attend the Jesus Party would know and learn what patriotism stands for.

I found out at the Friday evening gathering of neighborhood children for the Jesus Party at the Taylor residence, which consisted of children of different ethnic groups, that they are eager to learn more what America stands for.

During the ensuing weeks, the children learned more about the history of the United States and the celebration of all the national holidays and about all the national heroes who helped make the United States of America the greatest country in the world today.

The Taylor family (Doug, Sonia and children) are to be commended for their sincere and devoted dedication to make sure our children grow up and appreciate all the efforts our forefathers went through and to make sure that we enjoy fully all the liberties and freedoms that we have at hand today.
