LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club, working collaboratively with the Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Club, has committed to raising public awareness of the endeavors and accomplishments of Rotary International locally and throughout the world.
Two methods of communication with the general public are being pursued to reach the Rotary Clubs’ awareness goal.
The first is a “telephone information program” for which funds were raised on Aug. 31 when L/A Rotarians Kim Brown and Michelle Gosselin hosted “A Fun Night Out Playing Dress Up with Jewelry” at Martindale Country Club. A portion of the proceeds benefited the program by covering the cost of a dedicated phone line for inquiries about Rotary International.
In addition, the two local clubs will soon sponsor public service announcements as informational and educational tools, demonstrating how, living by their motto, “Service Above Self,” Rotarians work on projects and raise funds in order to assist people in need in their own communities.
From selling Christmas trees, to sending city children to summer camp, to collecting pocket change to donate to Rotary International’s Polio Plus campaign, Rotarians contribute to society in numerous ways.
