LEWISTON – Hazel L. Andrews, 85, of Poland, formerly of Essex, Mass., died Friday, Sept. 2, at the d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Milton, Mass., on April 5, 1920, the daughter of Clarence W. and Maude L. Innis Young. She was a graduate of Essex High School and Salem Normal School.

She married William W. Andrews on Feb. 14, 1942. He predeceased her in 1998.

She worked as a secretary at Woodman’s and the Village Restaurant in Essex, Mass. She was also an Essex den mother for the Cub Scouts and a member of the Essex Methodist Busy Bees. She was recently living with her son in Poland, before becoming a resident at d’Youville Pavilion.

She is survived by her three sons, Paul of Poland, William Jr. of Turner, and Richard of Beverly, Mass.; a daughter, Carol Auditore of Amelia, Ohio; a brother, Clarence W. Young Jr. and wife, Ethel, of Buzzards Bay, Mass.; a sister, Norma Richmond of Exeter, N.H.; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Harry Godfrey of Essex, Mass.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Earl and William Young.
