RUMFORD – Registered nurse Michele Gonsalves has been named director of nursing at the Rumford Community Home.
Most recently she was with Marshwood Living and Rehabilitation Center in Lewiston. She was assistant director of nursing at Rumford Community Home from September 2003 until April 2004.
Before coming to Rumford Community Home the first time, she had been an independent consultant giving workshops in care plans, documentation and medications and training certified nurse assistants, as well as the interim manager of residential care at the Maine Veterans’ Home. She had also been the director of nursing at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris and worked at D’Youville Pavilion, a long-term care facility in Lewiston.
Gonsalves earned her license in practical nursing from the Upper Cape Regional Vocational Technical School in Bourne, Mass., and her associate degree in nursing from the University of the State of New York. She holds certification in director of nursing/long-term care and in gerontological nursing. Gonsalves returned to Rumford Community Home at the request of Rod McIntyre, the home’s administrator.
She lives in South Paris with her husband, Bill. The couple has three grown children and three grandchildren.
