MONMOUTH – Muguette “Meg” C. Chaloux, 72, a resident of Monmouth, and a former resident of Lewiston, died Saturday, Sept. 3, at her home in Monmouth.

She was born in Durham, June 20, 1933, the daughter of Odilon and Rose (Roy) Levasseur. Her mother Rose (Roy) Levasseur died at a young age, and Meg was raised by her stepmother, Claudia.

She married Wilfrid Chaloux on May 29, 1954, at the Holy Family Church in Lewiston. He passed away on May 27, 1996.

Meg and Wilfrid made their first home together in Lewiston, moving to Bowdoin for 12 years and then moving to Monmouth in 1995.

She is survived by two sons, John Chaloux of Century, Fla., and Michael Chaloux of Mobile, Ala.; one daughter, Celine Smith of Ossippee, N.H.; four grandaughters, Jennifer, Tammy, Shantel and Katie; two grandsons, Eric and Jeremiah; two stepgrandaughters, Tomieca and Tracie; and a step-grandson, Raymond; and 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Levasseur of North Carolina; three sisters, Sister Laurette Levasseur of Winslow; Sister Jeanne Levasseur of Brazil, South America; and Doris Bourque of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Levasseur; and a grandson, Heath Chaloux.
