AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library and city of Auburn want residents to benefit from the free and equal access to information and the right to vote. They want residents to become card-carrying public library users, informed and an active participant in the government process.
To help, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, the library, located at the Auburn Mall, will host a nonpartisan voters’ registration drive for residents from Auburn, Lewiston and the surrounding areas and library card sign-up campaign.
To register to vote or get a library card, a valid identification showing current address is necessary.
All new and renewing library users and voters will receive a special gift while quantities last. Kids will receive red, white and blue pinwheels, and everyone will have a chance to win treasurer chests filled with gifts.
Also, at 10 a.m., APL volunteer Sara Spellman will help children in grades two through six and their families decorate canvas book bags that have a special pocket just right for holding an APL library card. Call or visit the library to register; space is limited.
For details about how to get an APL card or to register for the canvas bag craft program, call 782-3191.
Treasure chests are sponsored by the Friends of the Auburn Public Library.
