PARIS – A Lewiston man is charged with masturbating behind Burger King and assaulting the police officer who arrested him Tuesday.
Police Sgt. Michael Dailey said police were notified that a man was seen masturbating in a parking lot behind the Main Street business, but when they arrived he was gone.
The suspect, Daniel M. Locke, 37, of Lewiston, was later spotted on his bicycle leaving the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School parking lot farther down the street, he said.
Dailey said Locke claimed he was only urinating in the restaurant lot, Dailey said. He gave a name and age that later proved to be false and upon further questioning, took off on his bicycle, the officer said.
Dailey caught up with Locke on Skillings Avenue where he said he saw him jump into bushes.
When the officer tried to detain him, a scuffle ensued and Dailey’s finger broke.
Dailey said he ran after Locke and arrested him in the parking lot of Sideline Variety Store on Alpine Street in Norway.
Locke was taken to Oxford County Jail on charges of giving incorrect information, assaulting a police officer, refusing to submit to arrest and indecent conduct.
Lewiston police said Wednesday night they have arrest warrants for Locke charging failure to serve a sentence on an assault conviction and violating conditions of release.
