GRAY – On Wednesday afternoon, a collision on the Maine Turnpike caused traffic snarls and delays for those driving north.
The crash was minor, and no one was injured. But few drivers knew about the resulting traffic jam until they were caught in it.
A new function on the Maine Turnpike Web site is available to help motorists avoid such traffic clogs with a few clicks on the computer keyboard.
Along with sections on planned construction events, weather conditions and travel alerts, Turnpike authorities have now added “unplanned events” to their Web site menu. The site can be accessed at www.maineturnpike.com/html/travel_advisories/unplanned_events.html.
