AUBURN – Two Lewiston women and a minor are in police custody on charges connected to the burglary of a West Hardscrabble Road home Friday.

Police are still looking for a fourth person involved in the burglary, according to Auburn Lt. Richard Coron.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle Friday evening on Hardscrabble Road in Poland. Inside, they said they found property taken from an Auburn home that had been broken into earlier in the day.

“The man came home and found his front door kicked in,” Coron said. “He’d been broken into before, a couple of months ago.”

The find led to the arrest of Brandi Leigh Saucier, 29, of Lewiston at about 11:30 p.m. Friday. Police arrested a second suspect, Sharon I. Vantol, 43, of Lewiston, and a juvenile male after midnight Saturday morning. Coron said police were still looking for a fourth suspect, a Lewiston man, Saturday.

He credits a neighbor’s sharp eyes with catching the alleged burglars.

“People have started calling us when they see a suspicious vehicle in their neighborhood, and that’s a good thing,” Coron said. “They know their own neighborhood much better than we ever will. We could drive by a car 100 times and not know it doesn’t belong there.”
