LEWISTON – Cub Scout packs and Boy Scout troops across Androscoggin and Oxford counties will welcome new members as part of the Boy Scouts of America’s “Race into Scouting” recruitment drive this month. Open houses and sign-up nights will be held giving boys and their families the opportunity to learn more about and to join Scouting.

Fliers are being distributed in schools throughout Abnaki District with information on how to contact and sign-up with Scouting units in the community, and many packs and troops will recruit new members at school fairs and other community events.

“This recruitment drive marks the beginning of the Scouting year,” said Matt Mower, Abnaki District executive. “New Scouts that join this month will be able to jump into the program right away as packs and troops start holding their regular meetings and activities.”

For more information on how to get involved with Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting and Venturing, contact Mower at 797-5252, ext. 33, or mmower@bsamail.org. Abnaki District serves the Scouting program in most of Androscoggin and Oxford counties.
