Fall shoot

OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Fish and Game Association will hold a fall shoot from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the club shooting range, Paine Road, East Oxford. There will be running deer shoots and trap shooting. Prizes will be awarded. Call Art Bellwood at 539-2322 for more information.

Society schedule

WEST PARIS – The fall/winter schedule of the Finnish American Heritage Society of Maine will resume on Sunday, Sept. 18, with a 2 p.m. meeting at the Heritage Center, Maple Street.

After the business meeting, several friends of the society will speak of their impressions on their visit to Finland this summer. Dale Piirainen with his uncle, Veikko Piirainen, visited eastern Finland, and Lahja Debilo accompanied her nieces on their first visit to the land of their ancestors.

A coffee social follows the program. Everyone is welcome.

Sunday service

NORWAY – The Sunday service for Sept. 25 at the First Universalist Church, Norway, Unitarian Universalist, 479 Main St., will be at 11 a.m.

Child care will be provided. Choir practice will be at 9:30, with Heather Pierson, music director. Those who sing are are invited to participate in the choir. The service will be led by Jim Burke, organist and board member at the West Paris Unitarian Universalist Church. His sermon topic will be “Confessions of a UU Christian.”

Square dance

PARIS – A second square dance fun night will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris. Admission will be free to first-time dancers. The event is being sponsored by the Swingin’ Bears Club and is part of the Oxford Hills Adult Education and Recreation Program. Square dancing for everyone and no experience is needed. Annual meeting

PARIS – The Church Women United annual meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in South Paris. The purpose is to elect new officers, plan locations for the World Day of Prayer, Friendship Day and World Community Day and to donate a sum to a local charity.

Hypnosis program

GREENWOOD – Dr. Michael R. Hathaway will do a show on hypnosis at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Locke Mills Town Hall. The show will be for the whole family. Donations of $5 will benefit the Greenwood Historical Society.

Hathaway has a private hypnosis practice at the White Mountain Hypnosis Center on Route 113, Madison, N.H. He has a doctorate in clinical hypnosis, is a certified trainer for the National Guild of Hypnotists and is a certified past-life regression therapist. He has authored four books.
