AUBURN – Heidi DeHaan scored a pair of goals as St. Dom’s downed Sacopee Valley 5-1 in girls’ soccer action on Friday.
Laura Robitzek chipped in with a goal and an assist to pace the Saints to a four-goal first half. Autumn Bell and Jessica Chamberlain also scored for St. Dom’s, and Kaitlyn Bermudas, Kate Eslinger, and Erynne Landry each picked up an assist.
Jennifer Verrill scored the lone goal of the game for the Eagles to start the second half.
Katie Lyon stopped three shots for the win in the Saints’ net. Janel Harrington and Autumn Jones combined for 20 saves for Sacopee Valley.
Rangeley 5, Vinalhaven 1
RANGELEY – Vinalhaven started off a girls’ soccer game with an early goal, but could not hold back Rangeley’s offense as the Lakers stormed back for a 5-1 victory over the Vikings on Friday.
Senior Ashley Quimby scored a pair of goals to pace Rangeley, and fullback Abby Madeira converted on a rare opportunity to score, tallying an insurance goal on a direct kick in the second half.
Samantha Olivieri and Taylor Gellman also added scores for the Lakers (3-2).
Laura McCarthy got the Vikings (2-5) on the board with an unassisted goal.
Krista Jamison stopped four shots for the victory in the Rangeley net. Dana Wentworth faced 37 shots in Vinalhaven’s goal, turning aside 29.
Medomak Valley 3, Oak Hill 1
WALES – Three different players scored on breakaways as Medomak Valley sailed to a 3-1 win over Oak Hill in KVAC girls’ soccer action on Friday.
Emily Brogden and Maia Snow put the Panthers (3-2) up 2-0 at the half. Liz Hassett secured the third goal for Medomak to provide a cushion down the stretch.
The Raiders (0-5) spoiled the shutout with just 10 seconds remaining in the contest, when Skye Boulette scored on a relay from Danielle Potvin.
Alison Cornforth had five saves for Medomak Valley, while Courtney Seguin turned back 10 for Oak Hill.
Maranacook 6, Mt. View 1
NORTH ANSON – Jackie Mrazik had a hand in five goals, scoring the first four of the game and assisting on the fifth as Maranacook cruised past Mt. View, 6-1, in girls’ soccer on Friday.
Allison Myer chipped in with two goals and an assist.
The defense was equally sharp for the Black Bears as well, led by fullbacks Emma Prysunka, Laura St. John, Shannon Bean, and Annah Young.
The second-half score by Mt. View’s Caitlin Kupferman was only the second goal allowed by Maranacook (4-1) in its five games this season.
Melissa Piper made seven saves in the Black Bear net. Melanie Miville stopped 26 shots for Mt. View (1-4).
York 11, Poland 0
POLAND – Eight different players recorded goals as York pounded Poland, 11-0, in girls’ soccer on Friday.
Stephanie Plaisted, Hailey Blackburn, and Chelsea Tewel scored a pair of goals apiece, and Morgan Taylor and Jessica Cassotis chipped in with a goal and an assist each for York.
The Wildcats peppered the Knights’ goal with 56 shots. Melanie Cloutier stopped 23 shots, and Paige Piper made 21 saves for Poland (0-6).
Field hockey
Winthrop 3, Dirigo 0
DIXFIELD – Sarah Giampetro and Erika Sargent combined for the shutout with 12 saves and received plenty of offensive support as Winthrop defeated Dirigo, 3-0, in field hockey action on Friday.
Brittany Gaudet set up goals by Brianna Tupper and Brianna Tucker, and Kelly Lasckow also found the back of the goal for the Ramblers. Danny Tompkins had a busy night in the cage for the Cougars (2-3), turning aside 27 shots.
Jay 3, Lisbon 1
JAY – Julie Nelson scored the eventual game-winner as Jay notched a 3-1 win over Lisbon in field hockey action on Friday.
The Tigers (1-5) were tied 1-1 at the midpoint.
Nelson was sitting on the post when Betsy Gemelli contributed a long pass that Nelson redirected into the back of the net.
The only Greyhound (4-2) goal came when Christy McAuliffe stepped out of an embattlement on the right wing and put the ball past goalie Jessica Allen.
Mountain Valley 2, Boothbay 0
RUMFORD – Bethany Tidswell recorded both Falcon (3-2) goals as Mountain Valley notched a 2-0 shutout victory over Boothbay in field hockey action on Friday.
Tidswell scored her second goal in the second half on a penalty corner. Sara Martin assisted Tidswell’s first goal, while Maddy Aylward assisted the safety.
Goalie Brittany Dickinson had 10 saves for the Seahawks (1-4), while Kim Clark turned back 13 shots for Mountain Valley.
