LEWISTON – American Red Cross classes for caregivers will be offered from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. starting Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Multi-Purpose Center Senior Citizens Activity Room, 145 Birch St.

The nine-week series is for anyone interested in learning more about how to care for someone age 62 or over. The topics include general caregiving skills, home safety, caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, caring for the caregiver, positioning and helping a loved one move, assisting with personal care, healthy eating, legal and financial issues and caring for a loved one with HIV/AIDS.

Those interest can sign up in the Seniors Office for each class. At least four people need to sign up or the class will be canceled. The cost is free to anyone who might care for someone age 62 or over (friend, neighbor, parent, child).
