LEWISTON – Harold G. “Buster” Falkenham, 87, of Upton Road, Andover, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Andover on Dec. 28, 1917, the son of Joseph and Rena (Hutchins) Falkenham, and graduated from Andover High School Class of 1935.
During World War II, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army 927th Ship Hospital Platoon from June 4, 1941 to Nov. 21, 1945.
He worked as a caretaker for Robert L. Knight at the Black Point on Mooselookmeguntic Lake and then for Robert Swain in East Andover for several years. He then went to Boise Cascade Paper Co., in Rumford for more than 30 years, until retirement in 1980, as a helper on the rewinders.
He was a member of Cabot Lodge 117 K of P and formerly served as a selectman for the town of Andover for more than 12 years. He loved the outdoors, especially fly fishing.
He was married in Andover on Oct. 31, 1948, to the former Blandine Knox; she died in Lewiston on Aug. 19, 2003.
Survivors include a son, Brandon Falkenham and wife, Nancy, of Laguna Hills, Calif.; a daughter, Glenda Meisner of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia; and four grandchildren, Blake Falkenham of Laguna Hills, Calif., and Jennifer, Jessica and Jocelyn Meisner, all of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
