AUBURN – Donna Walker, a member of the nursing faculty at Central Maine Community College, has been named Educator of the Year by the Maine Associate Degree Nursing Council, a professional association of nursing educators in Maine colleges and universities.

The Educator of the Year award recognizes a nursing faculty member for knowledge and skill in their area of expertise, the ability to share this knowledge and expertise with others, enthusiasm for the nursing profession and nursing education, organization, flexibility and creativity, and understanding and concern for students’ needs and well being; and good communication skills.

In addition, Walker was selected because she is “warm, enthusiastic, committed, hard working and caring,” according to the council, which provides a forum for communication and exchange of ideas among faculty members and students in associate degree nursing programs.
