BATH – Scotland’s Dougie MacLean will perform at The Chocolate Church Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24.

One of Scotland’s most gifted and successful contemporary singer-songwriters, his innovative work has created a modern interpretation of this music while remaining rooted in ancient Scots culture, according to the arts center.

His songs have been heard throughout the world and been recorded by top artists such as Kathy Mattea, Frankie Miller, May Black and Delores Keane. “Caledonia,” a song he wrote 15 years ago about Scotland, went straight to No. 1 in the Scottish charts.

MacLean has appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York and been awarded gold discs (sales over 500,000) for his music used on the movie “The Last of the Mohicans” and for songwriting and co-producing on Kathy Mattea’s “Time Passes By” album.

From his home base in Butterstone near Dunkeld in the beautiful Tay Valley in Perthshire, Scotland, MacLean tours the world with his blend of lyrical, ‘roots-based’ songwriting and instrumental compositions.
