AUBURN – The Maine Department of Transportation wants to begin the engineering work to develop plans for the proposed replacement of the Royal River Bridge.

The bridge carries the Danville Junction Road over the Royal River about three quarters of a mile northwest of the Auburn-New Gloucester town line.

Before proceeding with the engineering work, the department wants to hear from local drivers and residents.

Maine DOT representatives will be at the City Council chambers in Auburn Hall at 7 p.m. Wednesday to listen to comments and concerns, and answer questions.

The department is particularly interested in hearing local views about the consistency of the project with local comprehensive plans and in identifying local resources, concerns and issues, according to a spokesman.

Anyone with an interest in the project is invited to attend and participate in the meeting.
