NEW GLOUCESTER – Selectmen on Monday honored former Public Works Director Willard H. Waterman by naming the town garage after him.

The Willard H. Waterman Public Works Facility at Upper Gloucester has a sign installed on the top front.

Waterman served the community for 28 years and retired last December.

Selectman Kevin Sullivan, vice chairman of the board, presented Waterman with a certificate of appreciation.

In other business, selectmen agreed to interview three of seven consulting companies who recently submitted proposals to perform a business economic development study.

Interviewed will be Community Dynamics Corp. of Auburn, which bid $67,383; PolicyOne Research Inc. of Portland, which bid $48,790; and RKG Associates Inc. of Durham, N.H., which bid $46,590.

A committee that included Selectman Kevin Sullivan, Town Planner James Isaacson, Zoning Committee members Larry Zuckerman and Steve Chandler, and Town Manager Rosemary Kulow developed the short list of candidates for interviews.
