LITCHFIELD – A 77-year-old Massachusetts woman died Sunday after her car collided with another vehicle on the Maine Turnpike on Saturday night.

Nancy Caverly of Andover, Mass., was driving in the turnpike’s southbound lane when her car collided with a SUV, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Investigating troopers said the woman, who had been parked in the breakdown lane, pulled in front of the other vehicle. The crash took place at 6:15 p.m. Caverly died Sunday from her injuries at a Lewiston hospital, McCausland said.

Another fatality took place on Route 127 in Arrowsic Saturday afternoon.

Sagadahoc County sheriff’s deputies reported that 76-year-old Anne Weber of Georgetown was killed when she lost control of her car on a curve and it overturned down an embankment.
