Early closing
AUBURN – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will close early, at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1. It will resume normal hours on Monday, Oct. 3.
Community day
POLAND – Poland Community Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Poland Regional High School, Route 26.
The event is a collaborative effort between the Poland Recreation Department and interested community members.
The celebration will include a children’s bicycle parade, face painting, dunk tank, cake walk, pony rides, K-9 demonstration, moon bounce, a Chinese auction, sand art table and a tumbling demonstration.
Jen and Rick’s Silly Songs will be performed at 10 a.m.; Conjouring Carroll Magic Show, 11 a.m.; and the AudioLogic A Cappella Group, 11:30 a.m.
Food will be available, including a barbecue lunch to benefit Poland Fire and Rescue,
Frozen custard, apple crisp, candied apples, popcorn and baked goods will be available from vendors.

Lodge reports
AUBURN – Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Odd Fellows Hall, 50 Elm St. The annual reports of the auditing committee, vice grand, secretary, treasurer, financial secretary and trustees will be read.
New officers will be installed in a ceremony at 8 p.m. Tuesdsay, Oct. 11, at the hall, led by District Deputy President Sally Fournier and her marshal, Mary Jones, both of Colfax Rebekah Lodge 26 of Mechanic Falls.
Elected officers are Mercena Abrams, noble grand; Pamela Black, vice grand; Esther Tucker, secretary; Arlene Simons, treasurer; and Cynthia Maxwell, financial secretary. Appointed officers will also be installed. The installation is open to the public.
Fellowship meets
LISBON FALLS – The Lisbon Area Widow Fellowship will meet on Monday, Oct. 3, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street. The gathering will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed at noon with a potluck lunch. All interested widows in the area are invited.
Seniors to meet
AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Hasty Memorial Center.
The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.
There will not be a raffle table. Tickets willl be on sale for the Halloween party on Oct. 10. Members should take their bag lunches and cups. Bingo will be played after lunch.
Items for the Tuesday, Oct. 15, fair can be brought in for a white elephant table, jewelry and craft tables and nonperishable items for food baskets.
Set-up time for fair will be noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 14.
The club met on Sept. 21. Lunch was fried chicken, and bingo was played after lunch.
Attendance winners were Lucy Cowles and Gerry Brushwein; pot of gold winners, Maxine Sidelinger, Glenys Ryder and Grace McDaniels.
