LEWISTON – Carl Henry Farrington, 69, died Sept. 27, of complications from pneumonia after being at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston for 14 days.

He was born in Gardiner on July 22, 1936. His parents were Ruth Stevens Farrington and Henry William Farrington. He grew up in Wales and Litchfield.

He served in the Air Force for four years from 1955 to 1959 and received the Good Conduct Medal.

He worked for Country Kitchen as a trailer-truck driver, as well as several other companies and owned his own business and truck at one time. He was most recently employed by United Wheelchair Van as a driver, a job he enjoyed very much.

He attended Wales and Litchfield schools. In 1966, he attended the National Professional Truck Driver Training Institute in Millville, N.J. In 1975, he received his General Education Diploma in Farmington. In 1982, 1983 and 1984, he received the Professional Safe Driving Award for five years of safe driving, presented by the Hanover Insurance Co. He had a Class A license to transport hazardous materials and to operate a 10 passenger vehicle.

He was an attending member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lewiston. He loved Jesus as his Savior and enjoyed studying his Bible.

In 1996, he married Marie Kennison Libby at the Presbyterian Church in Wales. The minister was Kenneth Woodums.

He is survived by his children, Clifford Farrington of Oregon, Bruce Farrington and wife, Annette, of Washington, Glenda Lilley and husband, Jerry, of Maine, Dean Farrington of Oregon, Gail Ehly and husband, Dwight, of Oregon, Kimberly Pugh and husband, Bob, of Louisiana, and Judy Davis of Pennsylvania; his stepchildren, the Rev. Lester Libby and wife, Heather Ann, of North Monmouth, Warren Libby and wife, Heatherangel, of Wales, and Doris Libby Corum and husband, Steven Lawrence Corum Sr., of Portsmouth, N.H.; siblings, Aubrey Farrington of West Paris, Alberta Conant and husband, Albert, of Oxford, Bernice Breton of Poland, Leon Farrington of Monmouth, and Norman Farrington and wife, Kathy, of Belgrade; 16 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Elroy Farrington.
