LEWISTON – Florence Samson Lafrance, 84, of Lewiston, passed away on Sept. 27, at Central Maine Medical Center with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Auburn on Dec. 3, 1920, a daughter of the late Francois and Cora (Cote) Samson. She was educated in the Auburn school system and later went on to work in the shoe industry.

She married Joseph Lafrance on Nov. 27, 1937. They spent 57 wonderful years of marriage together, until his passing on Feb. 7, 1994.

Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family; she also looked forward to and enjoyed her daily walk. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She is survived by six of her children, sons, Roland Lafrance and wife, Pat, Gary Lafrance and wife, Jen, and Norman, and her three daughters, Connie Dumont and husband, Richard N., Jackie Lafrance, and Sandy Dudzic and husband, Bob; nine grandchildren, Donna, Bryan, Jenn, Derek, Brenda, Ian and Logan, and Scott and Kevin; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Aurea Lee; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Francois and Cora Samson; her husband, Joseph Lafrance; a son, Bob Lafrance, in 1978; and two brothers, Albert and Romeo Samson.
