FRYEBURG – Jessica Chamberlain tallied a pair of first-half goals, giving St. Dom’s a narrow 2-1 victory over Fryeburg Academy in girls’ soccer action Wednesday.
While Chamberlain’s first goal came unassisted, the second goal was the result of a one-touch shot after picking up a chip pass from Laura Robitzek for the Saints’ (6-2-1) win.
The lone Fryeburg goal was notched by Correane Hennessy in the second-half.
Cape Elizabeth 12, Poland 0
CAPE ELIZABETH – Dana Ricker popped a hat trick to lead Cape Elizabeth to a dominating 12-0 win over Poland in WMC soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.
Grace Needleman chipped in with a pair of goals, while Jillian Smith, Emily Atkins, Lisa Wolanski, Alice Evans, Ashley Larose, Caitlin Smith, and Marissa Barritt rounded out the scoring for the Capers.
The Knights’ net was split between Paige Piper with 12 saves and Melanie Cloutier with nine. Brittany Bell was strong on defense for the Poland effort.
Maranacook 9, MCI 0
PITTSFIELD – Alisson Meyer recorded a hat trick Wednesday to pace Maranacook to a 9-0 romp over MCI in girls’ soccer action on Wednesday.
Jackie Marzik and Ali Trafton each netted two goals for the Black Bears (8-1), while Katie Watts and Alysa Neptune also tallied to complete the scoring. Melissa Piper made nine saves in net to preserve the shutout. Bianca Asaro handled goalkeeping duties for the Huskies (1-8), turning back an amazing 29 of 43 shots fired in her direction.
Buckfield 2, Rangeley 0
RANGELEY – Kasey Farrington netted what would eventually be the game-winning goal off a penalty kick as Buckfield edged Rangeley 2-0 in an EWC girls’ soccer matchup on Wednesday.
Lindsay Hinderson rounded out the scoring with an insurance goal 36:33 into second half for the Bucks (4-3-1).
Shayna Shackford turned aside 10 shots to preserve the shutout, while the Lakers’ (5-4) Krysta Jamison stopped six.
Oak Hill 3, Lincoln Academy 0
NEWCASTLE – Skye Boulette netted a goal and recorded an assist to lead Oak Hill to a 3-0 victory over Lincoln Academy in girls’ soccer on Wednesday.
Danielle Bourgoin and Megan Blais each chipped in with a goal a piece for the Raiders (1-7-0), while Kristen Eaton and Cadie Rodrigue were each credited with an assist.
Oak Hill had a solid defensive effort throughout the contest to preserve the shutout.
Livermore Falls 6, Lisbon 1
LIVERMORE FALLS – Erica Gats and Kelsey Biliouris each netted a pair of a goals as Livermore Falls rolled past Lisbon 6-1 in girls’ soccer on Wednesday afternoon.
Taryn Flagg and Whitney McDaniel each notched a goal a piece for the win. Danielle Therrien, Tricia Richard, and Helaina Lake all stepped up and played a solid midfield game, while Baylee Grant was strong at defense.
Sam Whiting turned away 10 shots in net for the Andies.
Field hockey
Gould 1, Hebron 0
HEBRON – Shannon Littlefield notched the lone goal of the game to lift Gould to 1-0 victory over Hebron in field hockey action on Wednesday.
Littlefields’ unassisted goal came at 13:12 into the second half.
Abbie Cummings made nine saves for the Gould shutout, while Marley Lumbard turned away four shots for Hebron.
Telstar 8, Winthrop 0
BETHEL – Josie Reiss and Liz Rosenberg each tallied a pair of goals as Telstar dominated Winthrop, posting an 8-0 win in an MVC field hockey matchup on Wednesday.
Chea Davis, Kayla Mills, Whitney Mills, and Lindsay Hart each added a goal to the Rebels’ win. Telstar outshot Winthrop 20-4.
Stephanie Tripp and Heather Gionet split time in net for the Telstar effort, combining for two saves. Winthrops’ Sarah Giampetro made 13 saves.
Poland 1, Sacopee Valley 1
SOUTH HIRAM – Poland and Sacopee Valley settled for a hard-fought 1-1 tie in double overtime in field hockey action on Wednesday evening.
Polands’ (1-8-1) Mallory Huskins picked up a pass off of Jessy Hodgkiss and popped the ball in from the circle to score the first goal of the game.
Katie Pike tied the score off a rebounded ball at 28:03 in the second half for Sacopee Valley (5-3-1).
