OXFORD – The Oxford County Fair Association will sponsor a Harvest Barn Dance and Pig Roast from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Doc Murch barn, East Oxford Road.

The newly constructed barn measures 40′ x 100′ and has been donated by Murch, an optometrist of Mechanic Falls, and supporter of the Oxford County Fair. Murch is the director for the fair’s annual apple pie contest.

The barn is being decorated with corn stalks, pumpkins and a few surprises by fair association members with help from sponsor donations, according to Diane Jackson, association member. “We are doing a Martha Stewart to the barn,” Jackson said.

The event will offer a pig roast at 6:30 p.m. and roast turkey meal and a bonfire. Live music will be provided by the Bel-Airs Band.

Tickets are $20 a person and include the dance and pig roast. Tickets are available at several Oxford and Norway businesses. For more information, call 539-2325 or 539-8642.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the tarring fund for the fairground’s driveways and walkways, making it easier for wheelchair, stroller and cart mobility.

Jackson said the association hopes the dance will become an annual event.
