HEBRON – Dawn I. Rideout, 71, of Hebron, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born in Lisbon Falls on May 14, 1934, the son of Walter Lewis and Edna Wallace Rideout. He attended Livermore Falls High School and was a woodsman all of his life.

He faithfully served his county in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed by A.C. Lawrence for 17 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and four-wheeling. He also enjoyed moose hunting in Newfoundland. He loved to play chess and was a master at postal chess. He had traveled to Israel, Egypt and Rome.

He married Priscilla Louise Daggett on May 20, 1955.

His family wishes to express thanks and appreciation to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for all they have done, especially Louise Gary, Debbie, Chris and Patti Ann.

He is survived by his wife of Hebron; two daughters, Sue Leighton and her husband, David, of Oxford, and Dawn Donahue and her husband, Paul, of Hebron; a son, Walter Rideout of Oxford; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Valda Rideout, Marion Twist of Augusta, Evelyn Leavitt of New Gloucester and Jean Cox of Auburn; two brothers, Gerald Rideout and Kenneth Rideout, both of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Famie Maschino of New Gloucester; and two brothers.
