LEEDS – The Leeds Historical Society invites those interested in old homes to a presentation by Les Fossel, a recognized expert in the care and restoration of old homes, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the lower level of the Municipal Building.
Anyone who has a question about an old home can bring it, along with a picture, if possible. Fossel will present slides, overheads of local homes and will join in an informal discussion of problems and concerns.
Leeds has about 100 homes built before 1858 and is in the process of cataloging and documenting them. The documentation will be stored at the History Center for public use.
The urgency to accomplish the documentation increases, as old homes are sought to be torn down and reassembled in other areas of the country. Leeds has lost two homes and two barns this way in the last five years.
