FALMOUTH – The eighth annual Maine Artists at Maine Audubon art auction will be held from 6 to 9 tonight at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center.

A silent auction and reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with guest host Kim Block of WGME News Channel 13, followed at 7:30 p.m. by a live auction led by auctioneer Kaja Veilleux of Thomaston Place Auction Galleries.

Maine painter Jane Dahmen is the signature artist this year. For the auction, she painted an acrylic-on-paper diptych landscape of Maine Audubon’s Hog Island Audubon Camp in Bremen. This is the third year in a row she has donated work to the fund-raiser.

Dozens of leading artists with ties to Maine contribute their paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry to the auction. Many of these works portray or are inspired by Maine’s natural world. Also auctioned off will be getaway packages combining hotel accommodations with concert tickets, museum passes and gift certificates to restaurants.

Artwork can be previewed at www.maineaudubon.org.

Other participating artists include Mary Bourke (signature artist 2003), John Bowdren, Carolyn Caldwell, Julie Hahn Cunningham, Heidi Daub, Suzanne deLesseps, Kate Fitzgerald, Kathleen Galligan, Bruce Habowski, Janet Laird-Lagassee, Marguerite Lawler, Mark Lazzari, Thomas Paquette (signature artist 2002) and Mike Stiler.

Proceeds will benefit Maine Audubon’s work to conserve wildlife and wildlife habitat. Tickets are $30 each, or two for $50, and include hors d’oeuvres, drinks and live music. For reservations and information, people may call (207) 781-2330, ext. 231.
