GREENE – Longaberger home consultants and about 50 guests gathered at the Sedgley Place for a Sunday brunch recently. The Olive Branch members hosted the second annual event to raise funds in the fight against breast cancer, research and awareness for the American Cancer Society.

Lois Heikkinen opened with an invocation prior to the meal. The guest speaker, Diane Marquis-Monaghan, executive director from the foundation, shared her personal story of surviving breast cancer and the steps she took to overcome the ordeal.

Monaghan encouraged attendees to ask questions of their medical teams, seek appropriate help and depend on all support systems available, such as family, friends and church.

The Olive Branch team leader, Karen Henry, brought the event together with the help of branch members: Julie Goodwin, Pauline St.Clair, Rhonda Purrington, Jill Ferland, Trudy Ellis, Chris Watson and Lois Heikkinen. Many door prizes were given. Funds were raised through a silent auction featuring donated Longaberger items as well as various items donated by area businesses.
